Okta: Custom SAML App

Use a custom SAML 2.0 app when the pre-built Detectify app doesn’t fit your setup, for example because a script changes the Okta attributes Detectify reads.

Before you start, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to enable SSO and to get the single sign-on URL and Entity ID for Detectify.

Create the App

  1. In Okta, go to Applications and create an app integration of type SAML 2.0.

  2. Name the app.

  3. In the SAML settings, enter the single sign-on URL and Entity ID from your CSM.

  4. Add these attribute statements:

    NameValue
    User.Emailuser.email
    User.FirstNameuser.firstName
    User.LastNameuser.lastName
  5. Add the group attribute User.MemberOf with a filter for group names that start with detectify. The filter sends only those groups to Detectify.

  6. Finish creating the app.

Send Your IdP Details

On the app’s Sign On tab, open the setup instructions. Copy the Identity Provider Issuer, the Identity Provider Single Sign-On URL and the X.509 certificate, and send them to your CSM.

Groups, Sign-In and Common Issues

Create and assign groups, sign in, and troubleshoot the same way as with the pre-built app. See Create Groups in the Detectify app guide.
