Scheduling

We recommend scanning each web application at least once a week, so new security tests run against it and you stay on top of its latest state.

Default Schedule

When you create a scan profile, Schedule weekly recurring scan is selected. Unless you clear it, the first scheduled scan starts a week after the profile is created.

Change the Schedule

Open Scan profile settings > Scan schedule. To get there from the Application Scanning page, select the scan profile’s next scan time, or open its actions and select Profile settings.

  1. Turn on Scheduled scans and enter the date and time for the next scan under Next Application Scanning (UTC). With only this on, the scan runs once.
  2. To repeat it, turn on Recurring scans and choose a Frequency: Scan daily, Scan every 7 days, Scan every 14 days or Scan every month. The first recurring scan runs at the date and time you entered in step 1.
  3. Select Save schedule.

Running Scans

A scan profile runs one scan at a time. If a scan is still running when the next scheduled scan is due, the scheduled scan doesn’t start, and the schedule continues at its next time.

A scan can’t be limited to a time window, because it may not finish all its security tests. If a scan has to stop at a specific time, stop it. You can automate stopping with the Detectify API.

You can also start a scan at any time: select Scan once on the Application Scanning page, or Start scan on the scan profile’s page. Scans can also be started through the API.
